Hillside Haven Farm is located on 130 rolling acres in middle Tennessee, about 40 miles southeast of Nashville.

In 1995, Okie and Madeline Jones decided to diversify their cattle and goat operation to include ratites.

Starting out with rhea, they quickly fell in love with the big birds and soon added emus and ostriches.  They became members of the Tennessee Emu Association and American Emu Association in 2000.

Even though the ratite industry is farm to finish, finding a special niche in the American marketplace was not difficult for the Joneses.   Okie and Madeline made the decision to concentrate on three aspects of the ratite marketplace: unique breeding stock, eggs (both fertile and blown) and custom hatching.

Eggs:

Infertile emu, ostrich and rhea eggs are blown out immediately for sale to egg artists.  Every effort is made to meet size requests.   Hatched shells are saved for sale by the pound to mixed media artists and crafters.

Ostrich lay from March to October
Rhea lay from April to September
Emu lay from October to April

Fertile eggs are available during the laying season on all three species, but orders must be made in advance.  Contact us for more information.

Breeding Stock:

Hillside Haven Farm offers breeding stock for both white (blonde) emu and white rhea in limited numbers.  If you are interested in an unusual show piece for your farm, either of these beautiful ratites will turn visitor’s heads.

Custom Hatch:

Because each of these birds lay at different times of the year, Hillside Haven Farm also offers custom hatching if contacted prior to the season’s start.  Please contact us with your needs and we will provide you with information regarding price.
